Another failed season - Blame Arsene and the board

Usmanov said he made an interest in the club because it was a good investment. A massive uproar and protest came about as people accused him of wanting to take over the club and Arsenal were selling out. People were saying that he is lying that it is a goof investment and he only wants to make money...

Which direction are we looking in?

As much as the internet has blown information and marketing into a hell hole of conspiracy and persuasion, you can it seems make people believe anything at all.... well... that's only a half truth. You can make people follow.

Arsenal are on course to becoming the richest club in the world and this I believe is what led Dein to leave the club.

Whatever I write next is all about money. I will say Wenger is in it for the money. The board are in it for the money. Everybody is in it for the money and the only way you can do that is to keep costs low. Buy youngsters and develop them. Sell them before they are 30 to get a return from them. It is all about money.

Wenger is a wanted man. Wenger is a great manager. Wenger came to Arsenal and won a double, almost won another, a few years later, he won another. He was always close to winning trophies until recently. Until recently it became apparent that we just didn't do what Wenger did in his early years. We didn't buy players Wenger could easily insert into the squad.

Instead, we became a team that made players that the people loved and adored and wanted on the back of their shirt. We became more commercialised than we could imagine and the money came in to finance a bigger investment, a bigger commercial venture that would bring in more money. The stadium.

We talked about development, building and creating a new team.

We didn't for some strange reason win anything. We didn't change how we played football. Still the same old manner. We lost simple games against simple opposition... because the big games brought in the money because they were viewed by a billion people worldwide. I am sure the revenue and commercial response from low league teams is almost nothing.

The Champions League is where it's at. That is where the big big money is and that is where we make our money. The big games that are seen by the most supporters.

A conspiracy?

Well... I ask myself this question. Why can't a team like Arsenal beat these teams we drew against. Why? We talk about referees and injuries but we tend to dominate games. Is it so hard for Arsenal to score goals? Is it too hard for us to win these games? Are these teams too tough for us? Have we not accomplished team after team, the art of breaking down a defence and winning?

It appeared, earlier in the season, we had. It appeared as though we had done it and we had made that breakthrough and made that edge towards playing something other than passing and moving - which is, let's face it, boring now since Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, United, Everton - all play fantastic gutsy English Premiership football. We're old news but we choose to play like this and struggle or is that it?

No... I would say that we should win these games. It's not a case of we cannot win these games but Arsenal win these games. It is set in stone. When we don't, something is wrong.

So it's not a conspiracy then. All it is, is... Wenger is not good enough. The board are not good enough. We can't get the right player, we can't manager them, we can't develop them (oh shut up with the Wenger made these players! Until he gets somebody from Halifax Town and makes them a regular in the team, he has not made a player), because all we do is buy cheap and we play cheap because it raises our profile, it raises our revenues, it raises our returns and it raises our profile on a football level and on a financial level.

We need to stay in focus on both these levels in order to survive as a club. Financially we need to have the edge. Football wise we need to have the edge.

Erm... football wise? Where are the trophies?

Well you can give the impression you're doing well can't you. You can tell the world you are fabulous and great and score great goals. That's all you need. People who show an allegiance. You're in Europe. You win group stages. Your players score goals. You have a 6 nil game and people love and adore you.

Welcome to the world of elite football where we're talking billions in money.

OK... at this point I could say something like Arsenal NEED a trophy but we don't. We have the money to replace players. Wenger could bring in a new player, give him more games, buy another player, give him games and we're still at the top - cheap and cheerful.

You see, if there is one thing I have learnt recently it is, we have a system.

Number one is, don't do anything that will lead you to overpay the players in bonuses. We went out of the Carling Cup and FA Cup at a point where, okay we would have won but also, we would have paid the players in "TONNES" of money in bonuses. As the season ticket repayments pop up I am sure we will make more from the press reports of players we are interested in and that will bring in more interest.

So we saved money there. The system is to save money. Give young players a chance and develop them. Tell them what they want to here, give them some games and then, sell them. That's it.

If I was not a football fan and I was thinking money and more return, I would do the same, exactly the same. If it brought me more money, I would think, ok, I have a massive amount of people paying into the club, why should I be interested in awards and profit from trophies when I have bums on seats?

This is the problem with the Champions League. If the top 4 teams didn't go through, Arsenal would have won the Premiership more often.

Then there is the obvious that we don't play as a team either. This is a problem at Wenger's level. I don't know why he does this but we play that stupid pass and move when we have completely destroyed teams win some fantastic pressure, drive and dominance this season. We gave up on that.

Who does that?

I never knew until I saw this season.
